How to Get to Murchison Falls National Park
Murchison Falls National Park is located in the North Western part of Uganda. The Park can be accessed by use of both Air and Road and this is preferred by the travelers in Uganda interested in watching the the stunning Wildlife species as they wander from one place to another in the park.
By Air:
Travelers to Murchison Falls National Park can transfer by flight as they board a domestic Flight from the Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip then fly to
Pakuba Airstrip or Bugungu Airstrip.
You meet the driver guide to transfer them to check-in lodge/ hotel as well as for adventure activities like Game Drives/ Boat Cruises.
By Road:
By Road, travelers can transfer from Kampala/ Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park for a period of 6 to 7 hours with a brief stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
The park comprises of two main gates that can be accessed and these include; the Kichumbanyobo Gate in the south and the Tangi Gate in the North.
Route Options
Many Routes can be used to get to the park although the most prominently used is the Route via Masindi Town through Luwero, Nakasongola then Masindi and Murchison Falls National Park.
You can get to the park on Self-Drive too as you get to rent a 4×4 vehicle so that you get to explore the park on your own at your pace. To enjoy this adventure, we advise you to carry with you a valid International Driver’s License so as to get here without any inconveniences.

Things to do in the park
Game Drives
Murchison Falls National Park is home to a diverse array of wildlife and these can be watched on Game Drive as you transfer from one track to another watching and taking many photos to keep with you. These Game Drives are scheduled Morning, Afternoon, Evening to Night Game Drives which give you an opportunity to watch the nocturnal wildlife species. The wildlife animals you watch include; elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and various antelope species. Lions, leopards, and hyenas.
Boat Cruises
Murchison Falls National Park offers amazing Boat Cruises along the Victoria Nile where you watch many wildlife animals along the banks of the River and beneath the waters (crocodiles, hippos) as well as bird species. Watch the hippos and crocodiles basking in the sun adventures that are so exceptional.
Bird Watching
Murchison falls national park is a home of over 451 recorded bird species including water birds, savannah birds, forest birds and migratory bird species watched in their natural forest habitat.
The best bird watching season is between the months of March –September and November to February. Other spotted bird species include; White African fish eagle.
Hiking and Nature Walks
Hiking and Nature Walks are done to the top pf the Murchison Falls. Hiking to this place will cost you US $15 per person interested as you get to have beautiful views at the green terrain, gushing waterfalls and various bird species as they fly from one place to another. You board a boat which transfers you to the bottom of the falls and when you get here, you jump off the boat with a lead guide to take you to the top of the falls. Take many photos to keep with you.
Sports Fishing
Sports Fishing at Murchison Falls National Park is exceptional when you get to catch the Nile Perch at the bottom of the Falls. You come with your fishing equipment then with a lead guide, you get to the bottom of the falls and catch fish an adventure so beautiful and unforgettable.
